For automotive brand CUPRA, we designed an app for IOS and Android to connect car services like charging, air conditioning or checking vehicle status, using your mobile phone like a remote control.
Our goal was to unify the user's digital experience in a single app, scalable to different vehicle models and seek consistency with the digital experience inside the car.
We analyzed user perception, brand context and competitors:
Key results: Users want control over car status, and realistic vehicle renderings reinforce that perception.
We studied the existing brand apps' architecture and conducted a Card Sorting to define a scalable category structure to cover the portfolio services' integration.
We designed identity proposals integrating two visual languages: in-car screens and commercial websites. The objective was to lay the foundations and principles for a common visual language to translate into the Design System (read details in Design System Case Study).
Design principles: a clean interface, simple communication 'no news, good news' and the car being the protagonist.
We conducted survey with users in different markets to obtain quantitative data about which features to prioritize in the backlog.
Users prioritize car battery status, charging, temperature and trip management features.
With these user needs in mind, we explored possible solutions through wireframe design proposals, testing and iterations in continuous collaboration with car engineers, business partners and developers.
We have launched an app for electric vehicles and expanded the CUPRA car experience into a single app. With the new design system, we accelerate the speed of implementation to reduce costs, the basis for the current work of scaling the app to other brand models.
